Toombs Brothers Band Bio

The Toombs Brothers Band is made up of Duncan Toombs on lead guitar, Andy Toombs on bass guitar, Mick McCartin on drums.  With them are  Gary Brown on Dobro and lap steel with Lisa White and Kaylah Anne on vocals.  The Toombs brothers band has reformed for this Friday 18 December gig, after about a two years hiatus that resulted from Duncan and Andy having separate commitments across Australia while touring with top country music stars.

Both Duncan, and Andy were born in Toowoomba and got into country music with Mick McCartin due to the insistence and encouragement from Mick’s mum  Lyn McCartin. All three boys entered many talent quests, playing and singing throughout Queensland.

Duncan Toombs - Duncan plays lead guitar and provides backing vocals for Beccy Cole and Gina Jeffreys and is a regular at Hillbilly Heaven in Wyong. He also performs with "Kasey Chambers, Poppa Bill and the Little Hillbillies". Duncan has been very successful producing videos commonly seen on CMC, and just returned from performing and filming videos in Nashville and Bakersfield. Two of his latest projects are videos for Kaylah Anne and Travis List. Duncan has been nominated for a 2010 Golden Guitar.

Andy Toombs - Andy plays bass guitar and provides backing vocals for Catherine Britt, Adam Harvey,The Davidson Brothers,  and the Noll Brothers Band.  Andy spent several years in the Nashville and in Southern California doing session work and playing in clubs with various bands. 

Mick McCartin - Mick is currently touring with Troy Cassar-Daley and has toured with top artists in the US.

Gary Brown – Hosts a regular bluegrass gig in Sydney, performs at several music festivals around Australia playing dobro and steel guitar. Gary is renowned for his generosity in holding workshops for up-and-coming dobro players. Gary regularly sits in with the band at the top monthly country music show, Canterbury Country.

Lisa White – Lisa is a long time regular performer on the Central Coast a superb bass player and singer and has her own band, Highway One.  She has published three albums and toured Australia a couple times sharing her beautifull singing around the country.

Kaylah Anne – A young star who is a Camerata graduate and Grand Finalist at the 2009 Toyota Star Maker.  She leads her own band, performing regularly in the Hunter and at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The gig will be held in the Kincumber Hotel starting at 8pm, Friday 18 December 2009.
